Project Manager (Supplier Guidance) – ABBVJP00035491
Contract C2C Remote
Description:
- In the JD it states, “Strong project management experience is more important than specific pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or system experience.”
- As this is supporting the manufacturing space, would this be more of a nice to have vs requirement for you? Strong project management is required. Pharma, manufacturing, system project experience is nice to have.
- Would a former proven AbbVie Project Manager without manufacturing experience be someone you would want to interview? Yes
- In managing 20 stakeholders, will this person be managing things at more of a portfolio level? No, this will be a direct project at the local manufacturing site level.
- How many projects will this person be responsible for managing? Most likely 1, possibly 2. Both will be at the local manufacturing site level.
- Can you expand on the projects they will be supporting? POMSnet MES system expansion into a new facility in North Chicago Manufacturing. This project will build MES recipes for new products/processes, and manage associate procedure updates, testing, documentation, training, implementation, and hypercare.
Role Overview
- Seeking an experienced Project Manager to support a localized project at North Chicago manufacturing site. This person will develop and maintain the project plan, coordinate approximately 20 stakeholders, manage resources and dependencies, track risks, and drive deliverables through completion.
- The role requires a hands-on project leader who can work across Quality, Operations, Technical Operations, IT, and other site functions. Strong project management experience is more important than specific pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or system experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the integrated project plan, including milestones, dependencies, resources, and effort estimates.
- Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders and clarify ownership, timelines, and deliverables.
- Track project progress, risks, issues, decisions, and action items.
- Lead status meetings and provide clear project updates to leadership.
- Follow up consistently on commitments and address delays or resource constraints.
- Push back when deliverables are incomplete or deadlines are at risk.
- Escalate issues appropriately when additional support or decisions are needed.
- Maintain project documentation and support successful project execution through completion.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience leading medium-sized projects from planning through completion.
- Strong skills in project planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and risk management.
- Experience using Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, or comparable project management tools.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Ability to drive accountability without direct authority.
- Comfortable taking ownership, challenging missed commitments, and escalating issues.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a hybrid, site-based environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pharmaceutical, GMP, regulated manufacturing, quality, validation, or site operations experience.
- Experience with MES, manufacturing systems, or technical implementation projects.
- PMP or comparable project management certification.
- Experience supporting cutovers or implementation activities.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced, execution-focused Project Manager who can create a clear plan, connect tasks and dependencies, communicate effectively, and keep stakeholders accountable. They should be collaborative but confident enough to push back and escalate when necessary.
Candidates whose experience is limited to large global or enterprise programs may be less aligned. The project requires someone comfortable working close to the details and directly with local site stakeholders.
Supplier Screening Priorities
Please prioritize candidates who can demonstrate:
- Ownership of medium-sized projects from planning through completion.
- Strong project planning, resource coordination, and risk management experience.
- The ability to drive deliverables across teams without direct authority.
- Clear communication with project teams and leadership.
- Comfort addressing delays, pushing back, and escalating issues.
- Experience working in a regulated or manufacturing environment, if available.
