Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior AI Automation Engineer to design, build, integrate, test, deploy, and support enterprise AI agents and intelligent workflows using Microsoft Copilot technologies.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on converting business and technical requirements into reliable, secure, and maintainable solutions. The engineer will work closely with the Lead AI Solutions Architect and business stakeholders to develop Copilot Studio agents, workflow automations, enterprise integrations, reusable components, validation logic, and structured outputs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, build, configure, test, deploy, and support Microsoft Copilot Studio agents.
  • Develop agent instructions, topics, actions, knowledge sources, conversation flows, variables, conditions, and orchestration logic.
  • Build agent flows and workflow automations using Power Automate and related Microsoft technologies.
  • Implement prompts, grounding strategies, structured outputs, validation rules, and guided follow-up questions.
  • Create logic that evaluates user input against required attributes and asks for additional information when needed.
  • Connect agents to approved enterprise applications, APIs, databases, reporting platforms, document repositories, and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Design, consume, and troubleshoot REST APIs and distributed services.
  • Build custom connectors, plugins, backend services, scripts, or supporting applications when native capabilities are insufficient.
  • Develop reusable components, connectors, templates, and engineering patterns that can be shared across multiple agents and use cases.
  • Implement data transformation, filtering, formatting, and delivery logic for information originating from multiple sources.
  • Partner with the architect to validate technical assumptions and refine architecture decisions through working code and prototypes.
  • Translate requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria into deployable technical solutions.
  • Perform unit, integration, functional, regression, security, and end-to-end testing.
  • Evaluate agent responses for accuracy, completeness, consistency, grounding, and adherence to required formats.
  • Troubleshoot agent behavior, workflow failures, authentication issues, connector problems, API errors, and data-access constraints.
  • Build appropriate exception handling, retry logic, notifications, fallback processes, and operational controls.
  • Apply security, privacy, role-based access, governance, and responsible-AI requirements throughout development.
  • Support environment configuration, source control, solution packaging, deployment pipelines, and release activities.
  • Implement logging, monitoring, analytics, and observability to support ongoing improvement.
  • Document technical configurations, integrations, support procedures, and reusable components.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical reviews, demonstrations, backlog refinement, and continuous improvement.
  • Support production deployment, stabilization, issue resolution, and iterative enhancement.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience designing, developing, integrating, testing, and supporting enterprise applications or automation solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, generative AI applications, conversational AI, or comparable enterprise agent platforms.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Power Automate and workflow orchestration.
  • Experience integrating applications through REST APIs, connectors, web services, or middleware.
  • Experience creating structured outputs and data transformations from conversational or unstructured input.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering, grounding, retrieval, context management, validation, and response evaluation.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex application, workflow, authentication, data, and integration issues.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including modular design, maintainability, testing, source control, and code quality.
  • Proficiency in at least one relevant development language, such as C#, .NET, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, or Power Fx.
  • Experience with Agile development, CI/CD, environment management, release processes, and production support.
  • Understanding of identity, permissions, authentication, authorization, and secure data access.
  • Ability to work from evolving requirements and collaborate directly with architects, stakeholders, and other engineers.
  • Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience delivering technology solutions within a large or regulated enterprise environment.
